We propose the total number of correctly transmitted packets during the lifetime of a finite energy source as another metric. We study the Go-back-N error control protocol assuming (1) Markov errrors on both the forward and the feedback channels and (2) a finite energy source with a flat power profile, and characterize the sensitivity of the total number of correctly transmitted packets to the choice of the output power level. We then generalize our results to arbitrary power profiles through both a recursive technique and Markov analysis. Finally, we compare the performance of GBN with an adaptive error control protocol (which slows down the transmission rate when the channel is impaired) and document the advantages.

LEBRP - A Lightweight and Energy Balancing Routing Protocol for Energy-Constrained Wireless Ad Hoc Networks
A wireless ad hoc network typically refers to any set of wireless networks where all devices have equal status on a network and are free to associate with any other wireless ad hoc network devices in their range. As the nature of these networks, they commonly do not have external power supplies, and each node has a limited internal power source. In this paper, we put forward a new routing proto...
متن کاملError Control and Energy Consumption in Wireless Communications Channels
In this paper, the problem of error control over an energy constrained wireless channel is studied. Errors on both the forward and the feedback channels are modeled as Markov. Classic ARQ strategies are found to lead to a considerable waste of energy, due to the large number of transmissions. An adaptive scheme, which slows down the transmission rate when the channel is impaired, is shown to sa...
متن کاملAdaptive QoS control for real-time video communication over wireless channels
Robust transmission of real-time video over wireless channels is a challenging problem. This is because the bit error rate (BER) in wireless channels is very high and the bit errors could have devastating effects on the video presentation quality. This paper addresses this problem by introducing adaptive quality-of-service (QoS) control for real-time video communication over wireless channels. ...
متن کاملSum-Rate Maximization Based on Power Constraints for Cooperative AF Relay Networks
In this paper, our objective is maximizing total sum-rate subject to power constraints on total relay transmit power or individual relay powers, for amplify-and-forward single-antenna relay-based wireless communication networks. We derive a closed-form solution for the total power constraint optimization problem and show that the individual relay power constraints optimization problem is a quad...
متن کاملDesign of a Low-Latency Router Based on Virtual Output Queuing and Bypass Channels for Wireless Network-on-Chip
Wireless network-on-chip (WiNoC) is considered as a novel approach for designing future multi-core systems. In WiNoCs, wireless routers (WRs) utilize high-bandwidth wireless links to reduce the transmission delay between the long distance nodes. When the network traffic loads increase, a large number of packets will be sent into the wired and wireless links and can...
